Ka-ballz! (aka Kabab Balls)

1 pound (1/2 kilo) ground beef
1/2 onion, chopped finely
1 egg
bread crumbs
3 cloves of garlic, minced
1 tablespoon salt
1 tablespoon black pepper
1 tablespoon cumin
2 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
1 teaspoon ras el hanout (optional)
3 tomatoes, quartered
2 mild peppers, blackened and skin removed
natural yogurt
flatbread (I used tortillas)

1.  Mix meat, onion, egg and spices together.
2.  Add bread crumbs if your mixture is to wet.  (You want it to stick together and not be crumbly but you also don't want it to be so wet it doesn't hold its shape as a ball.)
3.  Roll into ping pong sized balls.  Place in a baking dish along with tomatoes and cover with aluminum foil.
4.  Balk at 350*F (175*C) for 30 minutes then remove the foil and cook for an additional 30 minutes or until browned.
5.  Serve on bread of choice with peppers, hummus, yogurt and harissa.

-----------

This is kind of like Moroccan kabab, seasoned ground beef that is grilled on wooden skewers.  My version includes most of the same spices but gets rid of the skewers and the grill.

I'm all about easy and tasty.  This recipe is a bit slow on the baking time (if you're in a rush you could cook them up on a pan on the stove).  But there's very little hands on work with this one.
